Designed in Dublin, focused on practical UX outcomes
Emerald UX Academy is a young, focused learning studio. We have one year of experience delivering practical UI/UX training for people preparing to enter or progress in Ireland's technology sector.
Our story
We started Emerald UX Academy to bridge the gap between design theory and product delivery. Many career changers and junior designers struggle to translate their learning into portfolio-ready work. Our goal is to provide structured practice, grounded in real UX workflows used in Irish product teams.
With our first year in operation, we remain small and focused. This allows us to maintain clear learning outcomes, personal feedback, and a curriculum that responds to local hiring trends.
Mission and values
Clarity
We break complex UX workflows into understandable steps, ensuring learners can apply methods without confusion.
Evidence
Design decisions should be based on user research and testing, not personal preference or opinion.
Practicality
Every module ends with a tangible output you can place in a portfolio or discuss in interviews.
How we teach
We combine live workshops, structured assignments, and critique sessions that mirror real design team feedback. Each learner receives a roadmap of deliverables, so progress is visible and measurable.
Instead of long lectures, we focus on active work time, review sessions, and documentation that helps you articulate your decisions.
Aligned to Ireland's product landscape
Ireland's technology sector values designers who can collaborate with product managers and engineers. Our curriculum includes collaboration workflows, design handoff practices, and documentation habits used across Dublin and regional tech teams.
We review local job descriptions regularly to keep the learning outcomes relevant without making exaggerated promises.
Facilities and learning tools
Our learning space includes quiet project zones, screen sharing facilities, and a user testing setup. We use modern collaboration tools like Figma, Miro, and Notion to keep deliverables organised.
Students also receive templates for research plans, usability test scripts, and portfolio case study layouts.
Accessibility and ethical design
We emphasise inclusive design practices, ensuring that your interfaces are usable for diverse audiences. Students learn accessibility basics, colour contrast checks, and content structure that supports clarity.
